Glittery Creations

I've always had a weakness for glittery things, so making jewelry was inevitable. I love working with the stones, crystals and metals to create something unique and beautiful that I love. Last year, I decided to take the next step and make pieces that other people could love. Here are a few of my creations. If you see one that you can't live without, please go to my Etsy shop at: www.ScarletRoseCreations.etsy.com!
The pendant above is called 'Days of Wine and Roses'. It's a gorgeous burgundy jasper cabochon, wrapped in sterling silver wire, with garnet, amethyst and clear quartz beads as accents. It measures 1 1/2 inches across at the widest point and is a little over 2 inches tall. It's one of my favorite pieces thus far.
I call this one 'Malachite Mystery'. It's a malachite cabochon, surrounded by sterling silver wire, with accents of Swarovski crystal, peridot beads and glass seed beads. It measures 1/2 across and about 1 inch tall.
For those who love the touch of gold, 'Fall Fantasy' will delight the senses. It's a piece of picture jasper in the tones of autumn. I used seed beads, Swarovski crystal and milky quartzbeads, and tigereye chips to highlight the dramatic colors in the stone. 14kt gold filled wire wraps the stone and the pendant measures 1 1/2 inches across and about 1 3/4 inches from the bottom to the top of the bail.
Most of the cabochons I use are stones that were found by my husband's grandfather and cut, shaped and polished in his studio. I think it's pretty cool to keep it all in the family and I hope that he will teach me how to do all that someday!
Chandelier earrings have always been a favorite of mine. These are called 'Pink Pizzazz' and they are fun to wear. The base is heart-shaped silver-toned metal and the dangles are made of black and pink crackle glass beads on sterling silver head pins with sterling silver ear hooks. Despite their appearance, they are fairly lightweight and lots of fun!
"Lavender Breeze' is a a tangled sterling silver wire cage surrounding a lavender jasper cabochon with amethyst, clear quartz and sterling silver beads woven all about. The pendant measures 1 inch across and about 1 1/2 inches tall.
These funky little earrings are fun and great for Halloween! I call them 'Itsy Bitsy Spider Earrings'. The spider and web are silver-toned metal, hanging from orange and black seed beads. The ear hooks are sterling silver, as are the head pins. They hang about 2 inches down from the ear hooks. Cute!
These little bats swing on sterling silver hoops between black and orange seed beads from sterling silver ear hooks. They are about 1 1/2 inches long beneath the ear hooks. 'Going Batty Earrings' are flitty, flappy fun for everyone!
'Forest Glade' is the name of this lovely piece. It has accents of peridot, hematite and tan stone beads, woven among the sterling silver wire. It measures about 1 inch across and 1 1/2 inches tall.
All of my pendants come with an 18 inch, sterling silver, figure-eight style chain with a sterling silver clasp. The gold pendants come with an 18 inch, 14kt gold chain and gold clasp.
I love working with the elements to make something gorgeous that brings beauty to the person wearing them AND to those viewing them. It is one of my greatest joys. Thank you for allowing me to share them with you! Please visit my Etsy store at: www.ScarletRoseCreations.etsy.com if you would like to purchase one of my creations.

Musical Thoughts

So I'm at a music gig yesterday at Lakeport Square. One-stop retirement! It's a retirement community that also has an assisted living facility and nursing home on property.

It was a Cruise theme; fake flower leis, cocktails, Bananas Foster and ice sculpture by a chef with an electric chainsaw. (That's what I call retiring in style!)

We were performing lots of upbeat standards and Mike, my piano player, starts in with the song Tequila. This is an amazing song. Why? Because it literally makes anyone, no matter their age or physical capabilities, begin to bounce along!!! Try it! Go to YouTube and find the song Tequila, by The Champs, play it and see what happens. You won't be able to resist bopping around. You may even invent new dance moves never seen by man!

I instigated a conga line to Tequila. Yes, i am guilty...of helping people have a great time!

Tangled Web Pendants

"Oh what a tangled web we weave...." You know the quote. I'm always getting tangled up starting new projects and this time, I went all the way. I saw instructions for a similar project in a magazine and decided to make my own version. Here's how they turned out:

My husband Jim's maternal grandfather is an avid rockhunter and has spent many years finding, shaping, grinding and polishing all types of rocks. My lovely mother-in-law obtained some of these and I use them to create my pendants.

I also want to start the search for some really small, matching cabochons (that's the stone in the middle of all the wire), so that I can try my hand at making a set of earrings. Each piece is unique, so I'm not sure how successful I'll be at earrings. It would be fun to try, though!

It's fun to make them, however, I haven't been too successful in finding the appropriate market yet. Some are available on Etsy.com. Others are in the partially-completed stage and the rest reside in my imagination! I also do custom orders and have had a couple of those that ended in happy customers. I hope to discover the right place to display and sell my little darlings. Any suggestions?

Mama's Got a Brand-New Blog!

Ok, here I am and I have no clue what I'm doing, but I'm going to jump in with both feet and no fear! Hopefully, it will be interesting reading and serve as a sort of online journal. Maybe you'll even read it! :)
